The RTLS functionality will be achieved with a Paraglider solution, stored in the RU, and then deployed between 8 and 10 km of altitude. The paraglider wing is called the canopy which is connected to the FFU with lines. The paraglider is steered with brake or control lines.

In order to achieve good characteristics of the paraglider as well as a sufficient aerodynamic efficiency which enables the paraglider to carry the FFUs for a range of 40-70 km the team is analyzing and investigating several different paraglider shapes using modern CFD simulations as well as test flights in order to confirm the simulation results.

Furthermore, the aerodynamic properties of the detumbling system are analyzed through testing including wind tunnel tests.
