SPECTRE
REXUS/BEXUS
The REXUS/BEXUS is a German-Swedish student program which allows students from ESA countries to launch experiments on either a sounding rocket or a stratospheric balloon.
SPECTRE
The SPacE proof of Composite Tape-springs boom on REXUS Experiment (SPECTRE) project is an experiment scheduled to be launched on the RX33 Rocket in March 2024. It aims to validate a self-deploying bi-stable composite tape-spring boom in microgravity conditions.
Some CAD of the experiment can be seen under.
The experiment
The project aims to develop an ejectable Free Falling Unit (FFU) containing a boom, a recovery unit and other required instrumentation. The time history of accelerations from the two IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), the attitude of the FFU and the raw GPS data will be recorded. These will be used to reconstruct the dynamic of the composite tape spring deployment and how it behave in microgravity.
